Nutrition
What is nutrition? definition - The process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth.
What is the nutritional value dogs require on a daily basis, how is this achieved? Simply through diet, quantity of meat for protein and vegetables to meet the amino acids in a dogs body to make new proteins, which convert into hormones such as adrenalin, carbohydrates and minerals with trace-elements and vitamins with a balance of calcium to phosphorous and sufficient Vitamin D, together with the essential Fatty Acids and oils to meet a dogs metabolic needs and maintain their physiological function.
There are three types of meats necessary for dogs to consume, firstly whole meat flesh, secondly muscle meat and thirdly offal meat and oily fish plus raw bones, they are the living tissue composed of living cells providing balanced minerals. Dogs can only acquire energy from the source of protein and fat, not carbohydrates. This is essential for their physiological function, energy and endurance levels. Omega-3 this type of fatty acids is a polyunsaturated fat, known as a "good fat". These fatty acids are necessary for cell function; identified as ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) both play a role in maintaining healthy body tissues, a lack of these oils can potentially lead to health problems and chronic diseases faced by our domestic dogs in our modern world today.
Omega-6 this type of fatty acids is a polyunsaturated fat, required for tissue health and cell structure. These fatty acids are identified as LA (linoleic acid) this is the most common dietary omega-6, necessary for brain and muscle function, hair and skin growth, bone density, reproductive health and energy production. GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) known as an anti-inflammatory. and AA (arachidonic acid) converted from consuming LA (linoleic acid).
Omega-3 and Omega-6 finding the balance between both, promotes health and wellness, the nutritional analysis displays the well balanced results found in "Paleo for Dogs".
Omega-9 this type of fatty acids is a monounsaturated fat, unlike omega-3 and omega-6 the body can produce omega-9 fatty acids, but more beneficial when obtained in food. Up to 5kg Dog (50g to 150g)
5kg to 15kg Dog (150g to 350g)
15kg to 25kg Dog (350g to 600g)
25kg to 45kg Dog (600g to 850g)

Adult Dogs
The recommended amount for raw feeding a healthy, adult dog is 2-3% of their body weight per day.
It is generally recommended to feed adult dogs a smaller meal twice per day, rather than one large feeding. As with humans, it is commonly thought that this supports better functioning of the dog's metabolism and digestive system.

Puppies have increased nutritional needs to meet the demands of their growing bodies. Puppies under 12 months of age should be fed approximately 5% of their body weight per day.
Divide the total daily allowance of Paleo for Dogs into 3 meals for puppies under 6 months of age; and into 2 meals for puppies aged from 6 months onwards.
How to calculate to work out your dogs's daily feeding requirements, multiply their weight by 2-3%, or 5% for puppies.
Example: To calculated what to feed a 7.6kg small breed, if working on a ration of 3% of their body weight:
7.6kg x 0.03 (3%) = 0.228
This means feeding 228 grams per day, divided into 2 meals of 114 grams each.
Approximate calorie consumption recommended for a 10kg dog = 400 calories per day.
